Texas RenFest

I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival with some of the guys again this year.

This year I went twice, and it was twice the amount of weirdness and strange crowds. But it was interesting. Definitely different, but it was great going with Meynard and Ray. Those two know people and I get to meet them. WOO HOO, it's always fun meet new interesting people, especially at the RenFest. Then there is Peter, he is definitely not shy when it comes to approaching complete strangers.

House of Pies

Otherwise known as House of Guys. Had a nice evening with the guys bowling and after bowling coffee. It was nice to see David and Carlos. I don't get to see them very much.

(no subject)

on Sunday we had Brunch at Dave and Joe's Place.
Joe's friend Bill was there, he was down from Austin and was going to move to San Fransisco with in the next month. Bill had to leave early so he wouldn't be driving back so late.

So, we hung around were being a bit lazy and then we went to go eat.
Well, my restaurant suggestion was not the best. I like the place, but I guess the best was to describe it is that the place is a little too Authentic. The meat on many of the dishes were fatty. And that did not go over too well. SO, I guess no more House of Bowls...

But we did go to Juice Box to get some desert. I hope this made up for the terrible dinner.

They look like they are enjoying it.

Memorial Weekend

bamboo Plant bear
Saturday we went to go Shopping at a Bamboo sale at the Mercer Arboretum. Kent and I went with John, the one who told us about it. We got there and couple hundred dollars later we were on our way home. We picked out a couple varieties that will grow 3-4" in diameter with a height of 30-40ft with just a couple years. The photos above show what it will look like at maturity. We just need to find out where to plant this stuff. Currently the yard is full of plants from the previous owner. The other one is of one of the merchants, a plant bear, selling his bamboo.

Then, on Sunday I went to a Pool Party. Played around with the underwater case and took some photos. It was nice, it was at Mark Elinski's house and I met many people for the first time.

Monday was equally as busy as I went over to Gino's for an impromptu barbecue.

Movie turned Sushi Night

I thought I was safe, it has been a while since I went downtown so i parked where I have in the past, apparently i did not see the new sign posted 100 ft away in the middle of the block stating - No Parking on this block - and then it said something about 6am-11pm Mon-Sat?! so why are there meters there, and why doesn't the electronic meter with an LCD display tell you this when you mash the keypad?! Then I find out that they ticket you when parked at a non functioning meter. Downtown parking sucks.

but overall it wasn't too bad. I got to meet Dave, super nice guy.

We had a good time eating Sushi, talking, eating some more, talking, ordering more, talking... DANGIT! I didn't take any pictures of the fabulous food. I was so happy to have sushi, it has been a while since I had it so I was eager to dig right in!

oh and Meynard was there - he kinda organized it but the others flaked on him.

IMG_7622 I went Camping on the weekend of March 7 with the Asians and Friends of Houston. This was the first time for me to go camping with them and I really haven't gone camping that much before. The night before we got there it had snowed. I know, snow in Texas, ok it isn't so strange, but in March and south of Dallas?! We were in Grosebeck, TX at Lake Limestone, the place was called Rainbow Ranch. It was a very nice weekend, camping with a group of almost 30 people was actually more enjoyable as everything was well planned out. It was a nice break from the norm, even though we just played card games and Wii while we were there. Sounds like a typical weekend roughing it out in the woods. It was really cold the whole time we were there, I think I had a down jacket on most of the time. Then again, it seems like I am always cold. Unfortunately, Kent did not go with me this time. He said something about hating camping and the last time he went it was a miserable experience. It would have been nice to have spent some time with him. I even got to meet some really great guys out there, David and Carlos. I also had time to get to know some of the guys a little bit better, Like John and Pelima, Gary and Andrew, Hakim and Storm, Julio and so many more.

This stinks

I was driving to Seabrook, TX, which is about an hour from my house. It was such a beautiful day, so I decided to take the fun car down there. I took the quickest way there, which was a horrible idea. This road took me down where is seemed like all of the oil refineries are. The smell was absolutely horrible. The scariest part was that there were homes on the other side of this freeway.

San Antonio

Took a road trip up to San Antonio. Unfortunately, it wasn't for any fun, we were working most of the time. and Here you see me eating classic road trip food, Beef Jerky!

Between all the work that needed to get done, we became a bit delirious. We haven't eaten since noon and now we weren't going to have time to eat until 11pm. With the lack of food we went a bit crazy around 6pm as you see in the photo below. The best part is that she did this on her own!
